Founded in 1976, Jolo Fashion is a Netherlands-based leader in children’s fashion, known for its sustainable practices, innovative designs, and strong client partnerships. Jolo’s flat organisational structure encourages autonomy and creativity, fuelling organic growth. Since starting with tex.tracer in 2022, Jolo Fashion has strengthened its transparency initiatives, driven by a shared commitment to sustainable supply chain practices.

A commitment to sustainable fashion

At Jolo Fashion, the mission is clear: sustainability, creativity, collaboration, and integrity form the backbone of everything they do. Dedicated to reshaping the fashion industry from the inside out, Jolo Fashion is committed to infusing these values into each part of the production journey. This commitment extends to ensuring transparency across their supply chain—a critical step in their drive for accountability and responsible practices. Working for the future of children today.

Tackling supply chain transparency with tex.tracer

One of the biggest challenges Jolo Fashion faced was creating visibility across their entire supply chain. Additionally, ensuring that all suppliers annually update their certificates continues to be an operational hurdle. By partnering with tex.tracer, Jolo Fashion transformed its approach to supply chain transparency. tex.tracer’s platform not only centralises the entire supply chain data but also supports direct communication with suppliers.

Streamlined processes and enhanced insights

Through tex.tracer, Jolo Fashion has gained a clearer view of its supply chain, consolidating all data into a single platform. “Having everything in one place makes it far easier to manage, and the reporting tools have streamlined our internal processes,” notes the team. This system has not only enhanced visibility but also simplified reporting, enabling more informed decision-making.

Preparing for change: key insights from Jolo Fashion’s footprint pilot

To prepare for evolving regulations and better understand their environmental impact, Jolo Fashion conducted a three-month footprint pilot, calculating the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for selected products. This initiative provided a preview of future requirements and highlighted areas for improvement.

The pilot demonstrated the importance of involving design and brand teams in reviewing footprint reports. These discussions provided valuable insights into the impact of their designs and fostered shared accountability. Engaging suppliers in the process was equally beneficial, as it allowed them to see how their data contributed to sustainability goals. Reflecting on the purpose and desired outcomes of the pilot also ensured a more focused and honest evaluation of its results.

“How sustainable is my T-shirt compared to other T-shirts?" That was a question Jolo Fashion was eager to have answered. Due to the lack of market standards, they do wonder whether the consumer is able to read water and energy consumption from the footprint. Providing accurate data is of great importance. For example, we discovered that the information from the teams sometimes deviated from the information provided by the suppliers. The help from tex.tracer as a reliable, and consistent party for both Jolo Fashion and the suppliers, was of vital importance in this.

Jolo Fashion views this pilot as a key learning opportunity, providing confidence to tackle future challenges.

We believe that tex.tracer, in collaboration with other companies, can make the Digital Product Passport (DPP) possible and play a connecting role here.

Preparing for Digital Product Passports (DPP)

The implementation of Digital Product Passports presents both challenges and opportunities. While requirements remain undefined, tex.tracer has supported Jolo Fashion through workshops and collaborative sessions with industry experts.

Looking ahead, Jolo Fashion sees the Digital Product Passport as an opportunity to track the lifecycle of an item by starting with transparency in the chain to tracking how products are used and discarded. This will provide valuable insights into their lifespan, helping to further refine sustainability initiatives.

A forward-thinking partnership

Through their partnership with tex.tracer, Jolo Fashion is equipped with the tools and support to meet upcoming sustainability regulations. This collaboration not only enables us to be more efficient but also strengthens their mission to create fashion that is as ethical as it is stylish.
